The Crossroads

Take a moment and breath, ground yourself and imagine…

You are traversing down a path. There is nothing of specific to note about it, just a path that cuts through a thick of trees and stones. Why are you walking this way? What is it you are trying to get to? What lies ahead?

Ah, it comes to a crossroad.

Crossroads are a common symbol for a change of direction, a choosing of a new path; many deities are associated with them, many practices reference them and many journeys pass through them. It is not something to be feared, but an opportunity to put yourself where you want to be, to get where you are trying to go.

Do you notice that rush in your gut? That bit of nervous excitement that is slowly swirling? You know a choice is coming. You have the power to choose what direction you wish to take. Those that guide you there can only give you the insight as to how those pass may travel, whether difficult or not, it comes down to you.

As you approach, you see several paths laid before you, each is marked and each is different.

One is much longer than the others; one has more obstacles; one is short, but more work is required; another is easy, but rewards come slow. All have their place, all have their benefit, all have their setback.

What do you choose? How do you weigh the options? What if you make the wrong choice?

Be at ease. There is no wrong choice here. No…seriously, there is no wrong choice.

All of these paths get you to the same place, it is only the journey that changes. This does not discount the fact that difficulty arises as life is varied and unique, that some sit in a different place than others, but more so that if it is your choice to walk toward that next place, you can take confidence that you will get there, it is merely how you go.

You have tools and options at your disposal, guidance, support in varying ways, vehicles to make the miles shorter. You can make this adventure wild, taking shortcuts and going off path if you see fit; you can stay in line and only take a few steps at a time or…you can stay where you are and wait till the time feels the most right.

No journey is linear, no journey is the same, no journey can be compared to another. The expectations we put on how this process and learning should go is a multifaceted process of intake, internalization, facts, opinions and problem solving. You do not need to be ruled by the expectation of others, you do not need to be hindered by your own limited expectation.

What is it you want? What is it you want to do? What is it that tells you that you can’t? How can you turn that can’t into just a bump in your road rather than a wall of impassibility?

Reflect on these points, categorize them and be kind to yourself as you break them down.

Remember. The only journey that holds you back is the one you do not take.
